The Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians has faced historical injustices that resulted in the displacement from our traditional territory of Carmel, Califormia. Like many Native American tribes, this separation has severely impacted our cultural identity, language fluency, and connection to ancestral lands. However, the tribe is now engaged in a crucial initiatives to return to our homeland and revive our rich heritage for the benefit of the next generation. Our critical goals include:

The Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians, native to California's central coast, is dedicated to revitalizing their culture, increasing awareness of their history, and confronting the historical injustices they've endured. The tribe has been proactively educating the public on their heritage, culture, and current challenges through workshops, lectures, and cultural events to communicate their narratives and promote understanding.
